Workshop Engineer / HAV Tester
A P Tools Limited are currently looking for a Workshop Engineer / HAV Tester in Hamble, Southampton. A P Tools service the Aerospace, Automotive, Military and Marine sectors. The ideal candidate will come from a mechanical background, have experience with basic tool/mechanical maintenance and computer data input, and ideally be based within a commutable distance of Hamble.
Position Overview
1. HAV Testing (training provided)
2. Repair and maintenance of Pneumatic and electric tools (training provided)
3. PAT Testing (training provided)
4. Fault finding
5. Occasional manual lifting
6. Computer data input
7. Communicating with customers via telephone, email & face to face
8. Will be required to work away on occasions
The job role will be mainly HAV testing customers' tools, entering the data onto online files, and generating reports. This will be onsite and may require travelling to customers' workplaces, so a smart outgoing person would be suited. Some overnight stays will be required at various times of the year. When in the workshop, inspection, repair, and servicing of tools will be expected. This involves filling out job cards, listing spares required, etc. Due to the varied scope of tools sent in, some online investigation is sometimes required, so being computer literate is essential. Other duties include helping the manager with stock and occasional deliveries. You would be required to help in other departments during quiet periods. Being proactive, the ability to work unsupervised is essential, as are good organizational skills and cleanliness of the workshop.
Position Requirements
1. Previous hands-on mechanical experience (Preferred)
2. Competent with basic mechanical principles
3. An eagerness to learn and take on new skills
4. Excellent verbal communication skills
5. Able to work unsupervised
6. Sage knowledge preferred (training provided)
7. Full clean Driving Licence essential
8. Based within a commutable distance of Hamble
Position Remuneration
Salary - £23k - £30k OTE depending on experience
Monday - Thursday - 7.30am to 4.00pm
Friday - 7.30am to 1.00pm
