Key Tasks
1. To provide high quality teaching and learning across a range of programmes within a Higher Education setting, particularly Health and Social Care both Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma.
2. Contributing to the development of the Health and Social Care curriculum and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
3. Tutorship of students, giving appropriate support to enable students to achieve their goals and progress to positive destinations.
4. Interviewing and giving guidance to potential students.
5. Assisting students in their progression to top up programmes within the Health Sector.
6. To contribute to the development and continual improvement of courses, coordinating effectively with both staff and students.
7. Contributing to the development of policies and procedures related to Health and Social Care provision.
8. To be proactive in marketing/liaising with local schools, employers, and Higher Education Institutions with the objective of improving teaching and forging partnership links in an effective manner.
9. Preparation and marking inclusive of assignments and course work.
10. To deal with immediate student disciplinary and welfare issues.
11. To keep and maintain specified student and class records.
12. To plan, prepare, develop, and evaluate courses and course materials, and where appropriate supervise course provision.
13. To assist with administration, enrolment, pre-enrolment counselling and identification of student requirements.
14. To participate in Programme/School/College activities as requested, including students 1-1 evenings.
15. To participate and undertake Staff Appraisal and in-service training based on an assessment of individual service needs.
16. To meet the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the College’s Health & Safety Procedures.
17. To be prepared to operate on a flexible year as required; members of the academic staff will normally be expected to work not more than two evenings per week on average; to undertake such duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with the grade of the appointment.
Key Criteria
1. A teaching qualification - PGCHE, MA in HE Practice or FHEA etc.
2. Master's degree and/or a PhD in the relevant area – Health & Social Care.
3. Experience of delivery within Further Education.
4. Professional qualifications in Health & Social Care and relevant industrial experience.
5. Ability to make effective use of ICT to enhance teaching and learning.
6. An understanding of teaching and learning strategies.
7. Evidence of recent continuing professional development.
8. Effective communication skills to a wide range of people (staff, parents, students, service users) and the ability to work as part of a team.
9. Effective organisational, time management and administrative skills.
10. Proven ability to work on own initiative.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £22,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
