Job summary The TSSU (Sterile Services) department is an enthusiastic team who work in a busy fast paced department. The Sterile Services Department reprocesses surgical instruments for the Trust and surrounding areas. The Trust is not only tackling the waiting list backlog following the Covid pandemic but has also increased in Trauma procedures at the WRH. This has created more Sterile Services Assistant job opportunities within the TSSU department. The shifts available are 2pm to 8pm Monday to Friday. The department offers a six month on the job training programme. The department is looking to offer an NVQ qualification in the future. Opportunities do arise within the department to progress to a Supervisor and potentially a future manager. Main duties of the job The main duties of the role are the collection of used surgical instruments, preparing the instruments for the washer disinfector. The reassembly of the surgical instrument trays, closely inspecting for cleanliness and damage, wrapping of the surgical instruments.
