The Role
As an Environmental Practitioner, you'll manage the effective operation of Babcock Rosyth's Environmental Management System (EMS) and provide professionally competent specialist environmental advice for all operational activities and projects. You will support staff throughout Rosyth in understanding and assessing the environmental impacts and risks associated with site activities, processes, products, and services, ensuring all relevant environmental compliance obligations are met.
You will also:
1. Act as the principal point of contact at Rosyth regarding environmental matters and represent the HSSE department and Babcock Rosyth at internal/external committees and meetings, including with regulatory bodies.
2. Maintain compliance with current and future legislation to minimise business risk from civil and criminal action.
3. Develop and maintain the Environmental Management System in conformance with ISO 14001:2015 certification.
4. Support the prevention of environmental incidents and near misses through education, awareness training, and verification inspections.
5. Prepare, develop, and review a comprehensive suite of controlled Environmental Management System policies, process maps, and support documentation, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001:2015.
This role is full-time, 37 hours per week, and is based on-site at Rosyth.
Experience Required of the Environmental Practitioner
* ISO 14001:2015 - Environmental Management Systems
* All applicable Environmental Legislation and requirements including managing the delivery of any Environmental Permits and Licences.
* Sound understanding of Scottish Environmental Regulations and knowledge of SEPA guidance and best practices.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, coach, and educate.
* Analytical problem-solving skills, using data to develop creative, rational solutions.
Qualifications for the Environmental Practitioner
* HND in Environmental Studies or equivalent
* Accident/Incident Investigation Root Cause Analysis
* Investigatory Report Writing
* Occasional Climber/Working at Heights
* Facilitation Skills
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
