Falmouth Public Schools is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented individual to fill an immediate vacancy for the position of half-time 504 Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling 504 eligibility, transition and annual meetings, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately, and maintaining compliance with 504 regulations. This position requires a thorough understanding of 504 laws, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, parents, and students.
Responsibilities:
* Schedule, facilitate, and maintain required paperwork for Section 504 meetings: eligibility, annual review, and grade-level transitions
* Write clear, appropriate, and compliant 504 accommodation plans.
* Communicate with parents/guardians about meetings, scheduling and plans
* Provide oversight and support for case managers and teachers in communicating and implementing plans in the schools
* Collaborate with administrators in developing and improving systems and procedures
* Coordinate with school staff to gather necessary documentation and assessments for 504 evaluations
* Monitor timelines and ensure timely completion of 504 documentation and reviews
* Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Knowledge of 504 process: eligibility, plan development, and the legal requirements within that process
* Knowledge of academic support functions and scientifically based and developmentally appropriate interventions
* Interpersonal/human relation skills; the ability to relate effectively with students, staff, and parents/guardians
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and maintain deadlines
* Eagerness to participate in a professional community
* Relevant Maine Department of Education certification preferred (eg. Special Education, School Counselor, etc.) and/or Clinical Certification (eg. LMSW, Psychologist, etc.)
* Experience working in a school setting, ideally Elementary and/or Middle levels.
Compensation:
Teacher Scale - based on relevant experience and education. Excellent benefits package included (pro-rated for ½ time position).
