About The Role
The UK is embarking on its most significant electricity grid transformation in generations, aiming to create a cleaner, greener, and more secure energy future! Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) is a groundbreaking two-gigawatt high voltage direct current electrical superhighway that will stretch from the Torness area in East Lothian, Scotland, to Hawthorn Pit in County Durham, England. This ambitious project is set to unlock Scotland’s vast renewable energy reserves, dramatically boosting the UK’s capacity to transport clean energy from its source to where it’s needed most. With its innovative multi-directional design, EGL1 will also enhance the resilience and stability of the UK’s transmission networks, paving the way for a sustainable energy future.
