Position: Circular Economy Specialist (KTP Associate) Based at: Flair Rugs, Glossop, Derbyshire The role: An exciting opportunity has become available to work full time on a 28-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to develop, validate and operationalise a value-added model that will shift a linear ‘make-use-dispose' approach to a circular one, extending the lifecycle of each rug Flair Rugs produces. Through this KTP, Flair Rugs aims to innovate by: Creating a pioneering circular operating model within the rug industry, including takeback/reverse logistics models, circular rug repair methodologies and rug recycling systems Co-developing strategies, nurturing ecosystems, and co-orchestrating circular textile networks Creating environmental and economic value through circular business models Employed and supported by an academic team from the University, you will be based at Flair Rugs' premises in Glossop, Derbyshire. To find out more about Flair Rugs, go to https://flairrugs.com Qualifications we require: Essential Honours degree in Business Administration / Textile Engineering with a focus on sustainability management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) Desirable Masters or doctorate-level qualification in Business Administration / Textile Engineering with a focus on sustainability Certified qualification such as CSRM / ESG / Circular Economy Specialist Application requirements: Skills Applied knowledge of sustainability technologies / circular economy and operational models, including technical attributes and legal / commercial considerations Ability to develop enterprise-level circular economy solutions Knowledge of the textile industry and emerging markets is desirable Liaise and engage with stakeholders at all levels including the senior leadership Attributes Independent and collaborative problem-solving skills Architecting practical solutions with commercial impact Excellent project management skills Ability to facilitate training sessions Experience Experience in producing written reports in a commercial and academic context Industry experience in supporting / leading sustainability or circular economic initiatives Formulating and implementing robust and well-informed circular economy business plans based on selected strategies About KTP: For nearly 50 years, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) have been helping to innovate for growth by connecting businesses that have an innovation idea with the academic expertise to help deliver it.
