Are you a tech-savvy professional with a passion for problem solving? NHS Western Isles’ IT Department is seeking two dedicated IT Technical Officers to join our dynamic team and support our mission of providing exceptional patient care.
As an IT Technical Officer for NHSWI, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital's IT infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include providing first-line technical support to hospital staff and for staff in GP Practices, addressing hardware and software issues promptly and efficiently. You will be installing, configuring, and maintaining desktop and mobile computer systems and devices, as well as associated software and peripherals. Diagnosing and resolving technical problems will be part of your daily routine, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations. Collaborating with the IT team to implement new technologies and improve existing systems will be essential, as will adapting to changing priorities and responding to urgent technical issues as they arise.

To be successful in this role, you should have proven experience in an IT support role. Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking is essential, along with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach are also important, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The post is office based at the Laxdale Court NHS Offices with free parking and a short walk from the Western Isles Hospital. Occasional travel to other sites will be required. This position is full time, although consideration will be given to applicants wishing to work four days per week.
