Head of Year - Full-Time Role in Denton
Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Year to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton. This is a full-time position starting in December and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance. The role offers a weekly pay of £697 - £767.87, depending on experience.
As the Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the academic progress, pastoral care, and behaviour management of a specific year group. You will work closely with students, parents, and staff to ensure the well-being and success of each individual in your year group, supporting them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leading and managing the academic and personal development of a specific year group, ensuring high standards of attendance, behaviour, and achievement.
* Acting as the primary point of contact for parents and carers, providing updates on student progress, addressing concerns, and maintaining a positive home-school relationship.
* Monitoring and tracking the academic progress of students in the year group, identifying any students at risk of underachievement and implementing effective intervention strategies.
* Supporting students' personal development, including their social, emotional, and mental well-being, and providing guidance and support to those experiencing difficulties.
* Leading a team of form tutors, ensuring they are well-supported and equipped to deliver effective pastoral care and guidance to their tutor groups.
* Working closely with senior leaders, pastoral teams, and other departments to coordinate support for students, including the development and implementation of behaviour management strategies.
* Ensuring that students are well-prepared for key events, such as exams, options choices, or transition points, and providing advice and guidance as needed.
* Promoting and maintaining a positive and inclusive school culture, encouraging respect, cooperation, and high aspirations within the year group.
* Organising and leading year group assemblies, workshops, and other events aimed at fostering a sense of community and promoting students' academic and personal development.
* Addressing any disciplinary issues within the year group, ensuring that consistent and fair behaviour policies are followed and that students are supported to improve their conduct.
* Regularly reporting on the progress and needs of the year group to senior leadership, and contributing to whole-school initiatives as required.
Minimum Requirements:
* Previous experience in a pastoral or leadership role within a secondary school, such as Head of Year, Deputy Head of Year, or Pastoral Lead.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a varied and demanding workload effectively.
* A deep understanding of behaviour management, student well-being, and safeguarding, with the ability to apply these in a school setting.
* A commitment to ensuring the success of every student, with a proactive and solution-focused approach to challenges.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
* A passion for supporting the holistic development of students, ensuring they are well-prepared both academically and personally for future success.
