Job Overview
The Workshop Foreman is the leader of the TRO Production workshop floor. Overseeing all operations in the workshop whilst producing your own woodworking output, the person in this role will act as an integral active member of the workshop team, linking the production needs of the business into this key output function.
This position will be responsible for collaborating with the Workshop Manager and ensuring all production runs effectively through the workshop team, to quality standard. The role will serve as an integral active member of the workshop team by being responsible for materials ordering and stock control, workshop team line management and development, materials inventory, build process and technique development, collaborative creative problem solving, adapting and improving build processes and estimating in conjunction with the Workshop Manager.

Responsibilities & Duties Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Participation in kick off meetings, production scheduling, creative methodology, oversight of sub-contractors feeding directly into the production process.
* Input into workload planning across the workshop team with the Workshop Manager.
* Line manage the Workshop Technicians including their activity, performance, personal development and goal setting via Culture Amp.
* Oversee all levels of workshop personnel activity and performance.
* Produce your own carpentry output on allocated projects
* Lead daily workshop status meetings alongside the Workshop Manager to discuss daily focuses and adaptations for project changes.
* Develop an excellent rapport with all internal workshop staff and nurture external supplier collaborations on your direct projects.
* Identify training needs to the Workshop Manager to upskill the workshop team.
* Recommending, adopting and championing new production process, machinery and materials to TRO, with a focus on developing TRO’s sustainability offer for our clients.
* Attending key industry shows and events to extend TRO’s repertoire of materials in use across projects.
* Developing relationships with key materials suppliers, driving best value and timely purchasing to benefit from economies of scale and/or timely bulk purchasing for best price advantages.
Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* 3+ years experience in a supervisory Workshop Foreman role at a creative workshop facility, producing bespoke solutions for clients. • Lead a team of varying sizes on a project-by-project basis.
* Exemplary operation of a variety of wood working machines as well as hand power tools.
* Ability to read and understand drawings and interpret from visuals into workable solutions.
* Understanding implementation of H&S process and procedure.
* Intervene and train if an unsafe practice is observed in the workshop – regardless of the level of the person performing the task.
* Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and complete jobs with demanding deadlines while keeping a high attention to detail.
* Flexible approach to working hours and ability to work away from home circa 20% of the time.
* Good communicator. Listen when briefed and take on board feedback. Also, give feedback when necessary.
* Working style - Able to work autonomously and as part of a team. Have excellent attention to detail. Ask questions whenever unsure.
* Full driving licence and comfortable travelling around the UK and beyond with max six current penalty points.
IT skills across Office 365 packages, specifically Outlook, Excel, Word and Sharepoint and quickly learn database purchasing and internal charging systems.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Workshop qualification i.e. NVQ • Experience with using CAD in the workshop environment.
Programming and operating a CNC router.
Experience in the events production industry
