Please note that the annual salary advertised is for a full-time role, based on 35.00/37.00 hours per week. If the position you are applying for is part time or you are only going to be working part of the year, i.e., a term time contract for 38 or 39 weeks per year, the annual salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis including a number of additional weeks for annual leave entitlement when the position is term time.
Recruitment Profile
The main duties of a Support Officer will be the collection of Sundry Debt which is owing to Scottish Borders Council. You will report to the Income & Reconciliation manager along with two other members of the team.
This post will involve working closely as a team and actioning the team mailbox daily to resolve issues and deal with queries raised on invoices, these can be queries from external customers or from internal departments. You will be involved in running weekly debt reports and using the information to plan the best way to collect the councils debt in a timely manner, you will need to adhere to debt recovery policies when undertaking this task.
Payment of Sundry Debt can be made in a number of ways and include Direct Debits, telephone payments and direct payments to our bank account. You will be involved in setting up and taking these payments via these various methods.
The Team receive a high number of calls from customers who often have queries on invoices they received and you will need to liaise with departments to establish issues and help to resolve them.
Essential
• 5 Standard Grade passes at least Level 3 or above, including English and Mathematics or substantial relevant experience
