Role: Programme Director
Contract Length: Anticipated 6 months
Location: Hybrid – Two days per week required in any office outside London, Offices available Bristol, Coventry and Newcastle
Pay Rate: Competitive Market Rate
About the Role:
We are seeking an accomplished Programme Director with extensive experience in leading and delivering complex transformation programmes within the public sector. This role is critical to the success of a major business change initiative, and you will be accountable to the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for ensuring the programme's successful execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Case Development: Lead the creation and approval of comprehensive business cases that align with the strategic objectives.
Governance & Assurance: Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks to ensure the programme meets all assurance standards.
Programme Delivery: Drive the successful delivery of the transformation programme, ensuring milestones are met and objectives achieved.
Stakeholder Management & Communication: Engage with senior stakeholders, providing clear and concise communication throughout the programme lifecycle.
Leadership & Guidance: Offer strategic leadership and direction to the programme team, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
Resource Management: Oversee resource allocation and management, ensuring the programme is adequately staffed and supported.
Budget Management: Manage and control the programme budget, ensuring financial targets are met and value for money is achieved.
Risk & Issue Management: Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.
Benefits Management: Ensure the programme delivers its intended benefits, tracking and reporting on progress against key performance indicators.
Performance & Controls: Implement performance management frameworks and control mechanisms to monitor progress and maintain programme integrity.
Dependency Management: Coordinate with other projects and programmes to manage dependencies and ensure cohesive delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven Expertise: Extensive experience as a Programme Director, particularly in long-term contracts. Note: This role is not suited to Programme or Project Managers.
IT Target Operating Model: Significant experience in implementing IT Target Operating Models, with a strong emphasis on outsourcing.
Legacy Decommissioning: Demonstrated experience in decommissioning legacy IT estates.
High-Value Programme Delivery: A strong track record of delivering multi-million-pound programmes at the Director level.
