Location of post: Port Talbot Civic Centre and Working from Home on set days

Democratic Services is an exciting and dynamic team, offering support to Elected Members and Chief Officers of the Council and we are currently looking for a Democratic Services Officer to join our dynamic team.
As part of your primary duties you will be responsible for facilitating the hybrid meeting arrangements in relation to the committee functions of the Council. You will assist the development, monitoring and maintenance of the Forward Work Programmes as well as facilitating meetings of the Executive and Regulatory Committees. You will help ensure that the decisions made by the Council are safe and legal, and will have responsibility for ensuring that statutory requirements are adhered to.
There will be responsibility for undertaking general administrative and support functions within the Democratic Services section as well as ongoing support of Elected Members and Chief Officers.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of local authority political and democratic structures and procedures and have experience of dealing with sensitive issues in a complex organisation. The post holder will have experience of minute taking and report writing.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person who has excellent communication skills, is tactful and diplomatic and has the ability to work to tight deadlines and changing priorities. You will have the ability to undertake research, investigative and administrative support. As part of the role in Democratic Services team you will also have the opportunity to further develop your own skills and abilities through targeted continuous professional development
The post requires a degree or significant experience of Committee related activities.
Your workstyle will be a mobile hybrid worker in this role which gives you the flexibility to work from home and from a variety of Council workplaces.
