An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance & Estates Technician to be a part of our incredibly vital Estates team, ensuring Helen & Douglas House continues to be a world-class environment to receive care, as well as to work, shop, and volunteer.
Working closely with the Head of Facilities and Operations and colleagues in the Estates Team, you will be part of a team carrying out maintenance work on the Oxford Hospice site as well as within our 25 shops. The role will involve responsibilities for the day-to-day maintenance, which includes repairs, planned preventative maintenance, and refurbishments.
The successful candidate must enjoy being innovative with solutions, working autonomously, and be motivated to provide an efficient service that will benefit all our children, guests, families, volunteers, customers, and staff in supporting the maintenance and upkeep of our property portfolio.
Skills we are looking for:
1. Proven ability to engage others and communicate using various methods along with excellent interpersonal skills.
2. Proven experience in maintenance, and skilled in using power and hand tools.
3. Experience in any of the following: Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, Engines/Generators, Mechanical, Painting & Decorating.
4. Awareness (although training will be provided) of: Electricity at work regulations, provision & use of work equipment regulations, LPG regulations, Legionella & standing water, working at height regulations, and working in confined spaces.
5. Professional, flexible, and committed to going above and beyond the remit of the role to achieve and exceed quality.
6. Maintain an awareness of health, welfare, and safety issues affecting colleagues, patients, visitors, customers, and themselves, reporting any accidents or faults in line with organisational policy.
7. This role will require travel to our shops and therefore the postholder must be able to drive in order to discharge the duties of the role.
