Job Summary Leadership of all procurement operational matters, driving cross-team and key stakeholder collaboration. Creating, setting, and leading the overall direction for the Group Procurement team Mission and Vision, Procurement Strategy, business partnering, Business Plan, Value Framework, Procurement Policy, spend analytics, technology enablement, procurement team people development, supplier collaboration, regulatory standards, risk, governance, and compliance. Provide clear leadership and direction to the Procurement Operations team. Work collaboratively across the Group Procurement function to ensure a consistent adoption of good practice tools, frameworks, and ways of working. Responsible for ensuring procurement operational excellence, across Policy, process, governance, data and analytics, risk, and procurement technology, focused on capability and agile resourcing to enable delivery at pace. Accountable for the on-going evolution of the Business Partnering Framework. Key Responsibilities Leadership of the Procurement Operations team, comprising a business planning, continuous improvement, people development, spend analytics, supplier onboarding, supplier collaboration, policy, process, risk, governance, and compliance capability. Create and implement the Group Procurement Programme Office in line with the Procurement Target Operating Model to help allocate, prioritise, monitor and manage procurement workloads, renewals and governance processes and procedures. Responsible for the Procurement Strategy that aligns with Chaucer’s overall strategy; aligns procurement practices across all Chaucer Group entities; and drives value for money from good practice market intelligence, sourcing and supplier collaboration. Manage the Business Partnering Framework for use across Group Procurement, in their engagement, collaboration, influence and demand challenge of key business stakeholders, to maximise value-add, savings and benefits delivery. Accountable for the management of the Supplier Collaboration Framework for use by the Strategic Procurement Managers and Procurement Managers and the relevant business service owners in their delivery of Strategic Supplier cost, risk, performance, relationship, sustainability, and innovation led value. Accountability for the development, implementation and improvement of good practice market intelligence and sourcing frameworks. Direct the conception and delivery of continuous improvement programmes in support. Lead the development, delivery and annual review of the Business Plan, with the Group Procurement function goals and objectives incorporated within, reporting on overall team business performance, benefits and savings, people, and cultural matters. Ownership of the Value Framework, reporting to senior leaders on progress and tracking of their procurement priorities, to include savings and benefits delivery. Responsible for facilitating all compliance and third party risk management activities, ensuring that all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Overall accountability for the development of the digital procurement strategy, in line with existing and future technology implementations, to support the drive for enhanced automation, pace, agility, and business-led outcomes. Responsible for facilitating the creation of detailed and personalised spend reports, for use by the Strategic Procurement Managers and Procurement Managers in their business partnering engagement. Lead the engagement and influence of key senior Chaucer operational leaders, creating a collaborative culture to introduce and enhance good procurement practice. Recognised throughout Chaucer and the external market for their procurement operational expertise. Bring innovation, expertise, and ideas back into Chaucer to solve real business problems and support the delivery and success of the Group Procurement function. Lead a team of motivated and talented procurement operational professionals, fostering teamwork, coaching, challenging, promoting talent, with a succession plan implemented. Skills & Competencies Demonstrable levels of experience in category management, sourcing management, and supplier management / collaboration. Demonstrable leadership experience with a proven ability to lead and inspire a team, drive performance, and foster a positive, learning and collaborative work environment Demonstrable experience of translating strategic thinking into actionable plans Significant collaboration and business partnering experience with senior stakeholders Outstanding influencing skills, with the ability to establish cross-functional relationships and manage cultural, political and organisational change Self-starter with a focus on delivery, results and continuous improvement Excellent Project Management and self-organisational skills Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all operational procurement activities Experience in driving change and innovation, open to new ideas and approaches Excellent commercial and business acumen, with a good understanding of market dynamics and financial principles Numerical and analytical aptitude, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions Excellent negotiation skill set Demonstrable levels of leadership experience in a procurement operations team and environment Experience of working within the insurance/re-insurance market sector/ a regulated industry (ideally Financial Services).
