Role Overview The Software Engineer will provide application support for UK Insurance services to our UK business. This role includes monitoring, technical troubleshooting, supporting implementations, and maintaining software solutions. The engineer will work closely with business users, third parties, and other IT colleagues. You will join the production support team, providing essential support for one of our major applications. This role involves investigating incidents and problems and fixing small bugs, working in a DevOps environment. What you’ll do: Be the technical authority in their domain. This could be application or technology specific Undertake support, development or environment configuration activities as required for discipline Act as technical mentor to level 1 software engineers/application support specialists Impact assess and validate technical solutions, designs, proof of concept to ensure end to end solutions are fit for purpose Take part in implementation activities, change control and release planning Work within the application delivery standards, development methodologies and strategic architecture frameworks Provide input to Infrastructure Design teams with regard to overall solution design Takes ownership for resolving all IT related problems within their domain, which directly or indirectly impact on the operational services or development Establish and maintain credibility and working relationships with other IT teams, being an ambassador for IT within the business community, supporting a customer service culture. Working with product managers to refine and agree scope and detail of tasks Actively contributing to the team's commitment to continuous improvement and addressing performance concerns. Developing efficient and robust data and application state models Developing secure, reliable solutions informed by up-to-date best practices Contributing to onboarding resources for new team members Responding to customer incidents and resolving service-affecting issues To provide 24/7 on call support for core application services, this will include incident management and supporting releases. What you’ll bring: Strong experience in Oracle SQL/PL-SQL - Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex queries and stored procedures Experience in Microsoft .Net, C# - Solid understanding of .NET framework and C# programming for debugging and maintaining applications Experience with Azure Logic Apps - Familiarity with creating and managing workflows using Azure Logic Apps Experience with Unix - Competence in using Unix commands for system administration and scripting Experience working with Windows server Experience working in Production support environment Strong communication skills, good team player Experience of working in a matrix managed environment, with mixed teams including contractors and outsourced vendors Able to develop and interpret technical documentation for operational and training purposes.
