About the role: As the newest member of the Clay Modelling team, you will play a vital role in creating sketch proportion models and master models from scale to full size using a variety of materials, with clay being the primary medium. Your main role will be to shape the future of the Aston Martin brand - from the iconic Exterior proportions to the intricate detailing on the Interior, the Clay Modelling Team sits at the core of the design process. To thrive in this position, you must possess a collaborative spirit and a flexible mindset. You will be tasked with assisting the design team in bringing 3D physical design concepts to life. The Clay Modelling department will be your primary role but during your graduate scheme, you will have the opportunity to experience other areas of the department depending on individual and business needs. Main duties will include: Managing your own time effectively. Integrating into the team you are working with. Understanding the needs and taking direction from the Designers, whether this is Exterior or Interior teams. Understanding hardpoint data from the Studio Engineering Team. Reading 2D sketches and turning them into 3D models. Rotations: You will rotate within different areas of Design, established based on individual needs and wants, as the Department is made up of many different disciplines. The main role will be as a Clay Modeller, so you will spend most of your time learning this discipline. You'll need to: Be passionate about modelling, not afraid to express yourself, and able to push the boundaries of design while helping the Designers and the rest of the team to reach the best possible outcomes. Have a Design based degree, or similar. Have a fantastic eye for 3D design proportions. Be a strong team player with a very flexible ‘can do’ attitude. Hold a creative Design-based background.
