As part of the Council’s Democratic Services, one of its functions includes the provision of a centralised Project Office resource across the Authority. The Project Office provides skills such as project management, project support, and business analysis to a wide range of projects and initiatives covering all areas of the authority’s business. An opportunity has arisen to recruit a full-time Project Support Officer into this team to cover a period of maternity leave.
About the role
The Project Support Officer will have an important role in supporting Service areas with the development, monitoring, and maintenance of project-related documentation and leading on the scheduling, administration, and noting of a range of project meetings. The role will demand face-to-face, written, verbal, and electronic communications with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
About the Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who possesses a certain level of formal qualification or can demonstrate an equivalent level of experience. The opportunity would suit someone who has excellent IT skills, a good understanding of using various Programme and Project Management tools and techniques, is methodical, and has excellent planning and organisation skills. The successful candidate will require excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise and communicate with staff at all levels throughout the authority and with internal and external stakeholders.

Democratic Services plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the decision-making process of the Council, including support and advice to Councillors; PA, administrative and project management support to all service areas; facilitating elections; the communications team; translation and the Welsh Language policy officer. Our key functions include:
* Corporate Service Support: PA and Administrative support; Business support including project management and minute taking.
* Democratic Services: Councillors; Council, Cabinet, Overview and Scrutiny Committees, and Regulatory Committees.
* Electoral Services: General and local elections; Management of electoral register.
* Communications Team: Manage communication activities corporately; support services in campaigns and projects; deal with the press and media; develop and issue press releases; manage social media pages.
* Translation: Documents and simultaneous translation.
* Welsh Language Standards: Operational; Policy making; Promotion; Monitoring; Service delivery.
