We are currently recruiting for a Materials Testing Technician to join our fantastic team based from our Wolverhampton Tarmac site, which is located in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. The site is easily accessible via from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Telford, Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Kingswinford, Shifnal, Albrighton, Newport, Dudley, Willenhall, Wednesbury, Bloxwich, West Bromwich, Oldbury, Smethwick, Halesowen, Cannock, Burntwood, Hednesford and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
The role of Materials Testing Technician will report directly to the Technical Supervisor working on the testing of Asphalt, Concrete, Aggregate and developing products. This role is mainly based working within our Laboratory, but you may be required to travel to deliver and obtain samples, or test on site when required.
You will be responsible for (not exhaustive):
1. Test procedures – To ensure testing procedures are fully documented, understood and communicated to comply with company standards
2. Sampling & Testing – To carry out sampling and testing in line with contract requirements utilising in-house company Schedule and external 3rd party accredited testhouses where required
3. Work with the technicians for laboratory testing, checking results, carrying out preliminary investigations into complaints, and providing technical information to clients
4. Ensure your work is carried out in line with company procedures and in a safe manner whilst maintaining a safe and accredited testing environment and have the correct equipment available in calibration
5. Advise the Senior Technician and Operational staff when quality standards are being compromised and take appropriate action to rectify quality issues
6. Help investigate and resolve customer complaints and queries
7. Support the investigation; and resolve quality issues, advise operations and Site Teams of results and potentially suggest actions for improvement
8. Organise and undertake technical testing to ensure test regimes and workload are met, comply with Company systems
9. You will work closely with the Technical Manager, Technical Coordinator, Senior Technicians, Materials Technicians and the onsite teams to gain knowledge across a wide range of subjects
10. Have knowledge of on-site Health and Safety policies and procedures
11. Possess good communications skills and will be able to liaise with stakeholders of varying seniority levels
12. Have an understanding of civil engineering materials, materials testing and site construction operations, is an advantage
ESSENTIAL - Full UK car driving licence with no more than 6 points as you will have access to a company vehicle for this role to visit regional sites

The successful applicant in the role of Materials Testing Technician will be instrumental in the future development and support our Products, Operations and Technical Teams.
Qualifications/Requirements/Capabilities:
13. It is preferred that applicants have five GCSEs (A*C / 9-5) including English, Maths and Science
14. NVQ – level 3 – Technician or similar relevant in-house certification would be beneficial but is not essential
15. Working knowledge of Asphalt, Concrete or Aggregates products would be highly beneficial
16. Knowledge of testing schedule maintenance
17. Experience of how to meet sampling frequencies, reporting of results
18. Knowledge and understanding of relevant Standards and their application i.e. MCHW, BS.
19. Ability to maintain electronic records to efficiently demonstrate conformity and provide supporting data
