Our client, a prominent organisation in the marine industry, is currently recruiting for a Principal Naval Architect specialising in weights to join their team. This permanent role offers hybrid and flexible working opportunities across various locations, including Barrow-In-Furness, Brough, Filton, Frimley, Manchester, Portsmouth, and Weymouth.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLead the collation strategy for mass properties data to deliver weight and centroid control on multi-billion-pound submarine programmes\nAggregate weight and centroid reports, present status to the Chief Naval Architect, and generate mitigation plans\nDefine and manage the mass budgets for submarine programmes and their breakdown to system level\nSupport submarine sea trials\nCreate and maintain a comprehensive database of parts mass properties\nPromote a culture of weight control, working with system engineering to integrate weight as a fundamental design constraint\nConduct R&D activities, promoting the organisation's interests at UK and International Conferences\nPerform conceptual parametric estimations for mass distributions and moments of inertia\nProvide Subject Matter Expert reviews of weight control methodologies for non-submarine programmes\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nExperience in naval architecture and weight management\nDegree qualified in an Engineering or Mathematics subject, or equivalent experience\nAbility to work independently and provide technical leadership\nExperience of weight control on large programmes\nExperience working with large, complex electrical or mechanical systems\nFamiliarity with using VBA or Python to automate data manipulation tasks\nExperience using CAD packages and programmes\nChartered Engineer status or ability to achieve within a year is desirable\n\nBenefits:\n\nCompetitive salary\nHybrid and flexible working arrangements\nOpportunity to work on sophisticated and advanced marine projects\nProfessional development and training opportunities\nCollaborative and supportive work environment\nComprehensive employee benefits package\nIf you are a dedicated Principal Naval Architect with expertise in weights looking to contribute to innovative marine projects, we encourage you to apply now and join our client's dynamic team
