Prudential Policy Directorate (PPD) is responsible for designing, negotiating internationally, and implementing effective prudential regulation in order to remove or reduce systemic risks, promote the safety and soundness of PRA-regulated firms, ensure appropriate protection for insurance policyholders as well as facilitate competition with the UK and its international competitiveness and growth. PPD supports both the Prudential Regulation Committee and Financial Policy Committee in fulfilling their objectives. This is a challenging position with a varied and interesting workload where you will be able to use your initiative. It would suit an experienced secretary looking to develop their career. There are a wide range of demands and responsibilities in this area so the jobholder will need to be well organised; a good communicator; be comfortable liaising at all levels (internally and externally); and be able to handle competing demands while prioritising and managing numerous tasks, as well as having good judgement, integrity, strong communication skills and be committed to pursuing the objective of PPD and the Bank. They will also work closely with stakeholders across the Bank, including the Governors' Offices, the secretariats for Bank Committees (PRC, SRPC, EPCC and OIC). Regular responsibilities include: supporting the ED via excellent diary management and organisation of papers and support materials; working with the Private Secretary to ensure the effective running of the ED office and communication with the wider Directorate; arranging key meetings/conference calls with external stakeholders both domestically and internationally; arrange travel, including arranging the programme of meetings, preparing itineraries, collating supporting documents and processing all related expenses in line with the Bank guidelines; working closely with PPD Director PAs and HoD PAs to support PA and admin development; serving as a role model for staff across the Directorate. The core of the job is providing secretarial support for the Executive Director working alongside the Private and Assistant Private Secretaries. The jobholder will also play a vital role in the day-to-day work of PPD displaying the following: strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to work in a structured way to a high standard against tight deadlines; ability to manage multiple tasks and issues quickly and effectively; be part of, and work in a strong team environment displaying enthusiasm, reliability and flexibility and be willing to take on new challenges; self-starter who can operate proactively with limited guidance using own initiative; ability to handle confidential and sensitive data with a high degree of discretion, maintaining confidentiality at all times; ability to build good working relationships and networks, excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence and gravitas to deal with senior stakeholders; high level of accuracy and a good attention to detail; demonstrated commitment to the Bank's values.
