About Richard
Richard is a 39-year-old young man with Down Syndrome and autistic tendencies, living in his own home in Droitwich Spa. He needs 24/7 care and is looking for a Bank Carer to join his team of four dedicated Support Carers.
The role will mainly involve covering staff holidays and sickness. Your holiday entitlement will be calculated based on hours worked, equivalent to 5.6 weeks per year on a pro-rata basis. Holidays are planned well in advance against a rota published many months ahead, providing plenty of notice for shift coverage. Each shift starts at 17.00 and lasts 24 hours, including a sleepover. The Carer Team has a dedicated room for a calm workspace and comfortable sleeping arrangements.
Richard needs assistance with personal care, outings, cooking, cleaning, shopping, handling correspondence & finances, attending doctor appointments, visiting friends, and keeping in touch with family. We have a well-established routine, which includes a cleaning rota, weekly menu, correspondence folders, and an easy-to-follow finance protocol, with training available as needed.
Richard enjoys going out, particularly for walks, and has a National Trust membership, with many parks nearby to add variety to his day. He also likes to relax watching Netflix or DVDs, allowing time for the team to perform other duties. Owning a car is essential for the activity arrangements, but exceptions can be made for the right candidate willing to use public transport.
About You
Richard is looking for someone who understands his needs and can provide emotional support. The ideal candidate will live locally, be flexible, patient, have a good sense of humour, and a genuine caring nature. You must be enthusiastic and inspiring to bring energy into Richard’s life while demonstrating professionalism and integrity, promoting his independence and respecting his home.
Experience is advantageous but not compulsory, as all training will be provided. Suitable candidates must hold a clean driving license and/or be prepared to use public transport.
