Working closely with our colleagues at Bad Robot Productions, our projects unite our extensive network of games, TV, and film industry talent to create original IPs, expansive worlds and tell new stories across all media platforms which are as fun to watch as they are to play.
Bad Robot Games is looking for a Senior Technical Animator who is passionate about bringing characters to life. You will work closely with the Animation, Design, and Art teams to build the infrastructure, processes, and pipeline necessary for the creation of high quality animation and character assets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Own and drive character rigging systems, both internally and with any external rigging partners and resources.
* Oversee the integration of animation and character assets within the game engine while ensuring compliance to technical, aesthetic, and gameplay constraints.
* Work closely with the animation team and animation engineers to develop and debug animation systems that bring characters to life through responsive and fluid kinematic and procedural motion. This would include development of (but not limited to):
o Character Blueprints Components
o Animation Blueprints
o State Machines
o Control Rig
o Linked-Layers or Linked-Anim Graphs
o Notify-States
o Physics Assets
* Support the development of optimized workflows, custom tools, and pipelines that increase productivity and empower the animation team to work with quick iteration cycles and reduced production timelines.
* Train internal and external animators on tools, pipelines, and animation implementation.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
* 5+ years game development experience, with one or more shipped titles as a Technical Artist/Technical Animator
* Experienced in rigging, scripting via MEL/Python, physics, ragdoll, and cloth simulation
* Ability to collaborate and communicate cross-discipline with teams such as animators, character artists, designers, and engineers
* Experienced in the creation and maintenance of source-side and runtime character rigs and physics simulation implementation
* Expertise in Maya (MotionBuilder a plus)
* Extensive knowledge of Unreal Engine systems, including animation blueprints.
BONUSES
* Knowledge and experience working with motion and performance capture pipelines, processes and data usage.
Annual Salary Range: $115,000 - $120,000
Our ranges are based on California market rate regardless of work location in the US.
