Job Title: Senior Estimator
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator with extensive experience in the UK water industry to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for water-related projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
* Lead the pricing of tenders and bid submissions, ensuring all estimates meet client requirements and align with our financial objectives.
* Assess project plans, specifications, and requirements to identify key project components and potential cost risks.
* Obtain and analyse subcontractor quotes to ensure cost-effectiveness and compliance with project specifications.
* Identify potential risks and uncertainties in the project scope, and provide solutions or contingency plans within the estimate.
* Work closely with project managers, engineers, and the procurement team to ensure estimates align with project objectives and budgets.
* Engage with clients to clarify project specifications and ensure estimates reflect their requirements and expectations.
* Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations in the water industry.
* Maintain clear and accurate records of all estimates, assumptions, and pricing strategies for future reference.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years of experience as an Estimator, preferably within the water or utilities sector.
* Strong understanding of water infrastructure projects, treatment plants, and related mechanical and civil works.
* Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Candy, Conquest, or similar), and MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
* Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail to ensure accuracy in estimates and tender documents.
* A degree or diploma in quantity surveying, civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
The estimated salary for this role is £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
