The Role:
We are looking to recruit a Senior Charge Nurse/Team Leader to join the Surgical Receiving Ward at University Hospital Wishaw.
The successful candidate will provide provide clinical leadership and expert advice to all nursing staff, in the delivery of care within their area of responsibility, including recruitment, supervision, development and deployment of unit staff.
The post holder will have continual 24-hour responsibility for the management of the ward/department and will undertake regular rotational cover of the Directorate or Hospital.
The Senior Charge Nurse/Team Leader will:
1. Provide leadership
2. Deal with clinical issues and immediate management issues
3. Deploy staff as appropriate.
4. Be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care, and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients.

Band 7 / Fixed-term or Secondment - 6 months / Full Time / 37 hours

What we'll need you to bring:
12. Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
13. Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
14. Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
15. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
16. Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
17. Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
18. Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
19. The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
20. Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills
21. Effective time management skills
It would be good if you also had:
22. Post registration qualification or completion of training in leadership and quality improvement
23. Extensive experience within a Surgical or critical care specialty
24. Previous experience within a critical care or high dependency unit
