We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Cardiovascular Medicine (advanced heart failure, transplantation and mechanical circulatory support) to be based primarily at the Harefield Hospital site.
The successful candidate will carry out an epidemiological study related to advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and left ventricular assist devices. It is hoped the project will form the successful candidate's work towards obtaining an MD or PhD. The funding is secured for the successful candidate who will be expected to work towards an MD/PhD (tuition fees to be funded by the candidate). The contract duration is 1 year with a possibility of an extension for up to 2 years by mutual consent - with a start date of around November 2024.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be involved in the clinical care of patients in the project and will be the primary point of contact for these patients. The post holder will be working closely with Imperial College HealthCare partners Discover NOW team as well as the heart failure cardiologists in the North West London area. They will actively recruit all patients required for the project.
Job responsibilities
The post holder will be expected to participate in submitting ethics applications, recruiting and consenting patients, follow-up of the subjects, data analysis, and manuscript writing. The post holder will also be expected to write and submit grants for other projects based on advanced heart failure, transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. The post holder will be expected to work with colleagues within the transplant unit at Harefield Hospital and with heart failure specialists across North West London.
