We have a great opportunity for an Estimator to join our client's growing team in their Oxford office. You will be working on projects in the Defence, Arts & Culture, Commerce and Industry, Education, Emergency Services, Sports and Leisure, Religious Buildings, Healthcare and Residential sectors.\n\nOur client delivers exceptional outcomes on a wide variety of design & build, new-build, restoration & refurbishment projects, from turnkey maintenance services to complex schemes up to £30m.\n\nJob Purpose \n\nTo co-ordinate estimating resources in conjunction with pre-construction manager as well as personally preparing and producing competitive bids which take account of all project risks and customer requirements.\n\nExperience\n\n3 years experience in a similar Estimating or Surveying role in the UK Construction Industry.\nGood commercial understanding of the construction industry, market rates and competitors\nGood understanding of analytical estimating, measurement and first principals pricing\nDetailed knowledge of traditional and alternative construction methods including design management\nUnderstanding of alternative forms of procurement including frameworks, two stage and design & build\nDetailed understanding of ConQuest estimating software and standard Microsoft IT packages\nStrong personal negotiating experienceRequired Qualifications\n\nDegree / HNC in Building Studies or similar.\nDemonstrable commitment to continuing professional developmentPreferred\n\nMCIOB or MRICS chartership preferred but not requiredPrimary Responsibilities\n\nOverview initial enquiry\n\nEvaluate enquiry documents, guide pre-construction manager on suitability of opportunity and winning tender strategy\nCheck tender documentation and confirm receipt in conjunction with bid / pre-construction manager\nSelect and coordinate sub-contractors and suppliers\nIdentify and procure bills of quantities and specialist tender support where requiredLeadership\n\nPromote the company values and culture internally and externally\nCoordinate with project delivery teams in linking pricing and work winning supply chain\nPromote continuous improvement and the profitable development of the CompanyCreating compelling offer and proposals\n\nUnderstand customer key objectives and ensure a bid winning strategy is adopted\nCheck all tender submissions for completeness and obvious errors - complete a computational check of tender summary.Post tender\n\nAttend / lead the post tender handover meeting and provides a smooth transfer of information to the construction team\nAssemble all tender information and hand over in a coherent fashion\nExplain rationale behind tender to project team and secure full 'buy in'Personal attributes\n\nOrganised\nDetail orientated\nMethodical\nCan do attitude\nInitiativeAbout us:\n\nDaniel Owen is an established recruitment consultancy specialising in the placement of quality temporary and permanent workers to all roles in the Built Environment.
