Staff Nurse Same Day Emergency Care Band 5 37.5 hours per week - CIC
Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) is a dynamic developing area within the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle providing patient care to both medical and surgical emergencies enabling them to return home or if required be admitted to the hospital.
We have varied pathways covering a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions. Our aim is to provide seamless, high quality care for patients using our service.
We pride ourselves on having a friendly and welcoming team. We operate as part of the emergency care floor and take patients from both NWAS, GPs and A&E.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Management of patients attending the department.
2. To undertake clinical duties following the trusts clinical guidelines; including clinical observations, venepuncture, ECG's, IV medications and other treatments.
3. To mentor students and junior staff.
4. To manage the flow of patients through the department and work closely with the wards and departments within the emergency care floor.
5. Ensure a good standard of care is given at all times.

The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for New to registration Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals.
Registered Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

* Registered nurse with active registration.
* Teaching certificate or equivalent.

* Student nurse in the NHS or general nursing within the NHS or equivalent.
