We are currently recruiting to our Portering service and we are looking for highly motivated Porters to work as part of a team and to be able to work on their own initiative.

Staff are expected to work to a high standard, Porters will be required to be patient focused, and all candidates must be flexible to cover service needs.
Full training will be given to all successful candidates.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking to recruit a Facilities Management Assistant- Portering service to work within Secure Services.

You must have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and an understanding of health and safety in relation to safe working practices.
Previous experience of Portering within a secure setting would be advantageous.

Job responsibilities
Working within the High Secure Stores Department that is inclusive of the Central Stores, Patients Possessions, Linen bank, Food Stores as required. To also drive Porters vehicles and to collect and deliver goods as requested, moving them manually, or with the appropriate vehicles or manual handling equipment and procedures.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the provision of a quality storage provision for High Secure Services, which will include maintaining an accurate record of the storage, receipt and distribution of goods for Secure Division. Duties will include receipting all goods received for Secure Division as well as the processing and checking compliance with the security requirements required for Secure Division areas including Low, Medium and High Secure.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To work as members of a team, carrying out tasks as allocated and prioritized.
2. To participate in training, including Mandatory training as required by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. To participate in performance management, PACE whilst maintaining personal responsibility to ensure that all required training is kept up to date.
3. To adhere to and follow Trust and departmental procedures, entering and using Data and inputting information into the E-Fin system.
4. To assist the Manager to carry out the tasks assigned to the team or individual and to support the minimization of overtime and sickness costs.
5. The day to day job requirements and the banding of the post can change, but can be changed by management to a different set of specific responsibilities (once training has been provided). Such changes may be permanent; banding will only be affected if changes are of long enough a duration to a post that was of a different band.
6. The post holder will be expected to act as a team member (temporarily or permanently) in all areas of the Stores & Porters facility, subject to training and an updated list of specific responsibilities.
7. The post holder is expected to carry out tasks assigned to them, considering the Security and Health and Safety of all parties including colleagues from within their own department and those within Secure Division.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
1. To receipt and distribute all goods received in the Central Stores at Ashworth Hospital.
2. To accurately input receipt data into the purchasing/finance integrated computerized system, Pacis and E-Fin.
3. To be accountable for reporting short, damaged or discrepant deliveries, liaising with the supplier, the Purchasing Department and end user.
4. To complete x-raying and/or security checks, in line with Tilt recommendations, of all goods to be delivered into the Secure Area of Ashworth Hospital.
5. To take personal responsibility for the completion of all duties in a safe and efficient manner and to maintain regular contact with line Manager.
6. To undertake filing and general administration routines associated with the department.
7. To work unsupervised and to use your own initiative in line with service requirements. The post holder will also have a working knowledge of Health and Safety, Fire procedures as well as disturbance, escape and hostage procedures.
8. To comply with all security and fire procedures appertaining to the designated workplace.
9. To maintain a thorough working knowledge and practice of policies and procedures associated with the Central Stores.
10. Any other duties that may be reasonably expected and that are commensurate with the grade.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NHS experience and training in safety, health and catering or cleaning tasks.
* CIEH Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene, or equivalent.
Knowledge / Experience
* Experience of working in a similar role (cleaning or catering).
* Experience of working in the NHS.
* Experience of dealing with people.
* Knowledge of the National Standards of Cleanliness and NHS Colour Coding.
