Job Purpose:
The Child Care Worker will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children in the care of AONE Children’s Services. This role involves direct interaction with children, supporting their emotional, social, and educational development. The Child Care Worker will assist in daily activities, supervise play, and promote positive behavior, ensuring all children are cared for according to the highest standards of childcare.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Child Care and Supervision:
• Provide high-quality care and supervision for children in line with the company’s policies and child safety standards.
• Ensure the well-being of each child, attending to their emotional, physical, and social needs throughout the day.
• Engage with children in a range of activities including play, learning, and creative activities that stimulate their development.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and caring environment where children feel safe, secure, and valued.
• Maintain consistent and positive relationships with children, acting as a positive role model.
2. Daily Routines and Activities:
• Assist in the planning and delivery of a range of daily activities that promote the children’s development, such as arts and crafts, physical activities, storytime, and educational games.
• Organize daily routines, including mealtimes, naptimes, and personal hygiene, ensuring that these are handled in a consistent and caring manner.
• Ensure the children’s individual needs, such as dietary requirements and medical needs, are met and adhered to.
3. Health, Safety, and Welfare:
• Adhere to health and safety standards, ensuring the environment is safe and secure for all children.
• Conduct regular checks of the children’s environment, ensuring that all toys, equipment, and spaces are clean, safe, and suitable for use.
• Follow safeguarding procedures, ensuring the protection of children at all times and reporting any concerns to the appropriate authorities.
4. Behavioral and Emotional Support:
• Support children in developing social skills, including sharing, empathy, and communication with peers and adults.
• Handle behavioral issues in a calm and constructive manner, using positive reinforcement techniques and following the company’s behavior management policies.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to children, fostering a supportive and trusting relationship.
5. Communication with Parents/Guardians:
• Maintain open, professional, and regular communication with parents and guardians, providing feedback on their children’s progress and daily activities.
• Work in partnership with parents/guardians to meet the specific needs of their children and address any concerns.
• Assist in the preparation of daily reports or logs to keep parents informed of their child's development, achievements, and any notable incidents.
6. Record Keeping and Documentation:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of the children in care, including attendance, incident reports, and developmental progress.
• Assist in the preparation of care plans tailored to each child’s specific needs, in collaboration with the management team.
• Ensure all records and documents are kept confidential and comply with data protection regulations.
7. Team Collaboration and Development:
• Work collaboratively with other child care workers and staff, supporting a team-oriented environment.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in childcare.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of child care policies and procedures, sharing insights and feedback to improve service delivery.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience:
o Previous experience working in a childcare setting, such as a nursery, preschool, or daycare, is preferred.
o Experience with children of various ages and abilities, including those with special needs, is an advantage.
• Education/Certification:
o A relevant qualification in childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or equivalent) is preferred.
o First Aid certification, especially pediatric first aid, is highly desirable.
o Safeguarding training or certification is an advantage.
• Knowledge and Skills:
o Knowledge of child development stages and the ability to plan activities that meet developmental needs.
o Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
o Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
o A compassionate and patient demeanor, with strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
