This post offers exciting opportunities within the NY and Y CAMHS Service. We are seeking to appoint a psychology graduate with previous experience as an assistant psychologist to work into our York Community CAMHS Team.
CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) offers mental health support to children and young people from 6 to 18 years of age.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will promote the recovery and wellbeing of our service users within a trauma informed framework, during their journey towards discharge. Their core role will involve contributing to mental health assessment and formulation, supporting the team in using psychological and behavioural interventions (e.g. CBT skills), providing low intensity interventions, promoting staff wellbeing and involvement in co-creation.
The successful applicant will have a first class or upper second-class degree in psychology, and previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist. In addition, they will be enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate about improving the emotional wellbeing and quality of life of children and young people, and have an ability to be flexible and adaptive when responding to demands of the service. They will be working as part of a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary team under direct supervision from an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in psychology - first or upper second class
* Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
* Worked with children and young people
* Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice, youth work, work with offenders and/or research design and analysis
Experience
* Experience working as a psychology assistant (or equivalent)
* Experience working with people with mental ill health or learning disabilities (paid or voluntary).
* Knowledge of evidence-based practice
* Experience of psychometric test administration and interpretation.
* Experience of working in CAMHS
Skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with members of the MDT to provide an effective service.
* Ability to communicate sensitive information to children and young people, carers, and colleagues.
* An understanding of psychology applied to healthcare.
* High level of communication skills (written and oral), including an ability to communicate and work in highly emotive circumstances.
* An understanding of neurodiversity
