What you'll be doing
We are recruiting for a Senior Operator, internally called a Line Technician in the Packing department on a permanent contract. As a Senior Operator, you will take ownership of machinery, area, and equipment, and ensure the consistent application of processes within a given area/line to ensure products are prepared/manufactured to the agreed standards and production plans.
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off 06:00am – 17:10pm
Pay Rate: £14.48 per hour
Senior Operator responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Delivering line/area productivity and efficiency targets, resolving problems and issues as they arise, and producing ingredients or goods in line with the agreed production plan.
2. Continuously monitoring raw materials/ingredients, all operational processes, and the overall production environment to ensure compliance with food safety manufacturing standards.
3. Monitoring the effectiveness of machinery and equipment through Optimum Equipment Efficiency (OEE), highlighting trends and issues to ensure asset performance is consistent and reliable.
4. Promoting a good health, safety, and environmental culture within the department that complies with procedures, corrective actions, and completes near-miss reporting to promote a safe working environment.
5. Performing first line maintenance and basic Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
6. Conducting strip downs and rebuilds of manufacturing equipment.
7. Providing training to operational staff.
8. Assisting engineers with breakdowns.
9. Basic fault finding and prevention of breakdowns.
What we’re looking for:
1. Educated to GCSE or equivalent.
2. Mechanically literate.
3. High level of accuracy with attention to detail.
4. Team player.
5. Comfortable working in a chilled environment.
6. Reliable.
7. Good literacy and numeracy skills (assessed at interview).
8. Previous experience of working within a similar role would be advantageous.
