The Impartial Reporter is seeking a dynamic news editor to join our team. This is a critical leadership role within the newsroom, requiring someone passionate about upholding the highest journalistic standards while driving engaging, accurate, and timely news coverage in print and online. As news editor, you will help to guide our editorial team in Fermanagh and South Tyrone, help to oversee the news production process and ensure all content resonates with our readers. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the voice of one of Ireland’s most respected weekly newspapers. Key responsibilities:
* Story assignment and guidance: assign stories to journalists, providing clear direction on angles and perspectives to engage our audience.
* Editing: edit articles for clarity, conciseness, and coherence, maintaining a high-quality standard across all sections.
* Accuracy and balance: guarantee that all content is accurate, fair, and balanced, safeguarding the publication’s integrity.
* Legal compliance: work closely with legal advisors to ensure all content adheres to libel and defamation laws.
* Writing: the news editor will also be expected to write compelling news articles, delve into in-depth investigations, and create engaging long-form features that captivate and inform our readers.
