Volunteers are paired up with an experienced coach who will lead the sessions, but also provide you with the opportunity to develop your coaching skills set. The role will include assisting in the delivery of sport specific coaching sessions and ensuring that every participant in our programme has an enjoyable experience.
Our Sport Development Officers are experienced in working with volunteers and are on hand to mentor and guide you along your volunteer journey and specific knowledge and support if you are considering a career in the sports industry.

What’s involved?
* Volunteer and assist across a range of sports and activities of your choice, including: athletics, badminton, basketball, football, gymnastics, netball, tennis and preschool activity
* Setting up equipment and practices
* Working with children and young people on a 1 to 1 situation or in small groups
* Encouraging young people to develop skills, knowledge, and techniques relevant to their sport
* There will also be the opportunity to help at primary and secondary school festivals and community festivals
* This role involves working with children and is subject to a PVG check.
Skills, Attitude, and Experience Required
* No sports coaching experience required, just a positive can do attitude and willingness to learn
* A passion for sport and physical activity
* Interest in working with young people
* A commitment and motivation to learn and develop
* An ability to follow instruction and adhere to Health and Safety
Other important information
Location: Various across Falkirk
Time Commitment: A minimum of one night per week for our term time programme, which can vary from 1 -3 hours depending on the specific sport. Volunteers can choose from a range of sport and we will try our best to accommodate your availability.
Training: Training will be provided on an ongoing basis, based on the commitment from the volunteer. Suitable training for this role would include First Aid, Safe Guarding training, sport specific CPD, and based on length of commitment support through a UKCC Level 1 coaching course
Expenses: We are able to reimburse volunteers for reasonable travel expenses, upon request, up to £2.80 and in line with our Volunteering Policy. Volunteers must provide receipt of travel (e.g. bus ticket).
