We are looking for volunteer Retail Assistants, Till Operators and Sort Room Assistants to assist us on weekdays and Saturdays in our two Hoddesdon shops. If you have a few hours to spare each week and would like to help out in our shops, we’d love to hear from you This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and make a meaningful impact. Our shops play a crucial role in raising funds to support the essential services of Isabel Hospice. As a Retail Assistant, you will support and assist the team in maximising the shop's income by ensuring the shop floor is fully stocked and properly merchandised, and customers are served efficiently. Operating tills and taking payments As a Till Operator you will be taking payments while ensuring cash security procedures are always followed, and raising awareness of Gift Aid to our customers. As a Sort Room Assistant you will be sorting donations and steaming and tagging garments ready for the shop floor. We ask you to commit to at least one regular half-day weekly session and session times are: AM: 10am to 1pm PM: 1pm to 4pm We have the following sessions available: Retail Assistants Monday: PM Tuesday to Saturday: AM, PM Till Operators Monday to Friday : AM, PM Sort Room Assistants Monday to Friday : AM, PM General duties: Providing the highest standard of service to customers Ensuring both stock and cash security procedures are always followed Contributing to keeping the shop and premises clean and tidy Providing support and guidance to new volunteers to help them settle into their roles Promoting the public’s understanding of the work of Isabel Hospice and the importance of raising funds through the shop Your skills and Abilities: Confident in handling cash Enjoy working in a team environment Enjoy working with the public Good organisational skills Demonstrate and keen to develop good customer care skills Security conscious Demonstrate and keen to develop display & merchandising skills Benefits to you: Meet new people and learn new skills Work with a friendly team and be part of the Isabel family Support your local community Contribute to the provision of care to our patients Comprehensive induction and training Support with your career goals and personal development Opportunities to learn from long-term volunteers and staff Am I eligible to volunteer? We ask that our volunteers are: At least 18 years old Live within an easy commute to the area Interested in volunteering for at least 6 months for at least 3 hours per week All volunteers are assessed individually for the volunteer roles they are applying for.
