Job Title: SEN Specialised Nurture Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Location: Oak Tree School, Truro
Salary: Up to £42000 depending on experience
Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm
Contract: Fixed Term, Term Time only (planned end date - 30/07/2026)
As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a SEN Specialised Nurture Teacher to join our close-knit team at Oak Tree School located in Truro.
To secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team
To teach a range of subjects as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s curriculum
In consultation with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s curriculum.
To take a supporting role in monitoring to ensure that the school’s systems for promoting positive behaviour and attitudes to learning are effective.
To plan and deliver engaging and motivating experiences relevant to the nurture group principles (children’s learning is understood developmentally; language is understood as a vital means of communication; transitions are significant in the lives of children).
To develop an appropriate, broad, balanced, relevant, differentiated and challenging curriculum to all pupils appropriate to their needs.
To provide support for a named group of children through a carefully structured timetable that balances learning, affection and structure within a caring home-like atmosphere.
To work with the Inclusion Manager to monitor the progress of pupils ensuring the reduction in barriers to learning, increase in inclusion into their classroom and secure excellent progress for all pupils.
In line with school policy, mark and provide feedback on pupils’ work set in school and for homework so that they understand how to improve.
Oak Tree School in Truro has recently expanded and developed two new buildings and undergone a successful inspection from Ofsted allowing us to offer a wider age range of pupils from 5 – 18 years the opportunity to have the best education possible. Oak Tree School is a specialist SEMH provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 135 pupils and young people aged 5 to 18 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These pupils and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.
