An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dedicated and innovative Dietitian to join our established Children's Nutrition and Dietetic Community Team in Oldham. This post is to cover a period of Maternity leave for 9 months.
You will provide specialist paediatric Dietetic care across Oldham in a variety of settings including clinics, patient's homes and special schools. You will manage a complex caseload which includes home enterally fed children and neonates.
The role will suit an experienced individual with a solid foundation in community paediatric dietetics. The post holder will be a motivated, compassionate and dynamic individual. It is essential that you have experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You will deputise for the Team Lead in their absence alongside another Band 7 Dietitian. You will be actively involved in the training of students. You will maintain clinical responsibility for your own caseload and contribute to the development of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide specialist dietary advice to complex children and their families, in clinics, patients homes and special schools.
2. The caseload includes complex enterally fed babies and children, neonates, complex disability, allergy and oral nutrition support.
3. To support patients and families during the transition from paediatric services through to the adult service.
4. To contribute to MDT meetings and service development projects.
5. Working within the Dietetic team to be an educator, providing dietary information and training for health professionals and students, to help improve evidence based and best practice.
6. To assist in the training of student Dietitians across the NCA.
7. To educate children and their parents/ carers.
8. To provide clinical support and leadership for junior Dietitians. To be involved in the training of student Dietitians.
9. To communicate effectively with patients and carers to optimise the nutritional status of patients referred to the service. Highly developed communication skills of negotiation, motivation, explanation, and gaining informed consent will be used with a wide variety of patients.
10. To provide teaching for members of the multidisciplinary team, to promote understanding of the aims of nutrition and dietetic treatment and to ensure a co-ordinated approach to patient care.
11. To educate patients, to promote understanding of the aims of nutrition and dietetic treatment.

* HCPC Registered with a Undergraduate or Masters degree
* BSc/MSc Nutrition and Dietetics
* Experience Working in a Paediatric Team
* Home Enteral Tube Feeding Experience
* Excellent Knowledge of Nutrition and Dietetics and an understanding of Dietary Management of Common Conditions
* Ability to review and amend feeding plans as appropriate.
* Awareness of the HCPC Standards of Conduct
