Pay Rate: £20.02 per hour
Job Purpose:
The Advanced Social Worker will provide frontline social work support to children and families within Derbyshire County Council. The role will focus on Duty & Assessment, including court work and care proceedings, ensuring the welfare of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake frontline social work, assessing and managing risks to children and young people.
Conduct comprehensive assessments and implement appropriate interventions.
Work within the Duty & Assessment team to provide timely and effective responses to referrals.
Manage a caseload of children and families, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Lead on court proceedings, including preparing and presenting reports for private and public law cases.
Work in partnership with families, carers, and professionals to develop and implement child protection and support plans.
Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and Derbyshire County Council’s policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring all documentation meets legal and regulatory standards.
Contribute to team meetings, case discussions, and professional development initiatives.
Requirements:
Qualifications: Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England.
Experience:
Minimum of three years of direct experience in a Children and Families setting within an English Local Authority.
Strong background in Duty & Assessment.
Proven experience managing court work and care proceedings from start to finish, including private law cases.
Must have recent experience in children and families social work.
Candidates with recent Looked After, Fostering, or Disabled Children experience will not be considered.
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong knowledge of child protection procedures and statutory social work frameworks.
Ability to assess risk, plan interventions, and work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality court reports.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure.
Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced team environment.
