Cardiff and Vale UHB has a vacancy for a creative and skilled communications professional to join its Communications Team on a fixed term basis until end March 2026, to lead on internal and external communications for the following programmes of work:
1. The rollout of the new electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) system. This is an exciting part of the Health Board's digital transformation programme and will make the prescribing, dispensing, and administration of medicines easier, safer, more efficient, and effective for patients and professionals. It is one of the biggest changes to hospital medicines and prescribing since the birth of the NHS.
2. The work of the Cardiff Joint Research Office, which is a partnership between Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Cardiff University to support the development, setup, and approvals for health research in Cardiff.
The successful candidate will be required to produce effective communications for a wide range of audiences and have knowledge of social media, modern methods of digital communication, and internal staff engagement. Excellent relationships with partner organisations will also be fundamental to the role.
The post holder will be based with the Communications and Engagement Team at Woodland House, Maes y Coed Road, Cardiff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the Head of Communications and Engagement in the provision of communications and engagement services within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
2. Represent the Head of Communications and Engagement at Executive Board meetings and meetings with other members of senior management, offering strategic advice over appropriate responses to lines of enquiry and working with senior managers to develop and issue media messages.
3. Support the Head of Communications and the Executive Board within the organisation to share corporate objectives and to actively promote the University Health Board values and services amongst the internal workforce, service users, external partners, and stakeholders.
4. Establish and communicate key messages to safeguard the University Health Board's reputation, limit adverse publicity, and promote a positive image to increase public and stakeholder understanding of the University Health Board’s objectives and services.
5. Support any change programmes to existing University Health Board service provision and any supporting public consultation.
6. Introduce, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of the University Health Board's external profile amongst media and key stakeholders, making improvements where appropriate.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
