Senior Sister/Charge Nurse

Job Overview
Nursing leadership is imperative in the delivery of care, and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our busy Cardiothoracic Critical Care Ward Band 7 Team to lead and support our dynamic, innovative nursing team.
We provide coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve and lung surgery, plus chest trauma as part of the regional Trauma Centre status of UHNM.
Cardiothoracic Critical Care is a 16-bedded department that provides level 2 and level 3 care to patients post Cardiothoracic procedures.
We have a 34-bedded pre and post-operative inpatient ward, of which 8 beds are for level 1 care, and it also incorporates a dedicated pre-admission service.
Main Duties of the Job
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated nurses with effective leadership and organizational skills to join our Band 7 team in striving for the highest standards of care for all our patients.
The successful applicants will have:
1. A minimum of 3 years post-registration experience working as a deputy ward sister/charge nurse (band 6) within the last 12 months.
2. A minimum of 18 months experience working in a Critical Care environment.
3. Sound clinical knowledge and be an excellent team member.
4. A positive outlook and ability to inspire and support the team.

Qualifications
* Evidence of degree-level qualification in health/nursing related.
* Evidence of master-level study.
Experience
* Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience.
* 1 year of management/leadership experience.
* 18 months Cardiothoracic Surgical/Critical Care experience at band 6 or above.
* Deputy ward sister/charge nurse experience within the last 12 months.
* Formal teaching to groups of staff.
Skills and Knowledge
* Experience of teaching in clinical areas.
* Formal leadership and management training.
* Evidence of ongoing professional education in a specialist area.
* Evidence of implementing change.
