Overview:
The production of bespoke parts for highly regulated industries such as aerospace, medical, and automotive is our client's primary focus. With expansion underway, the team requires an experienced professional to oversee the integration of additive manufacturing into their production department.
Job Purpose:
In collaboration with the manufacturing, operational, and sales teams, you will leverage your materials science expertise to ensure seamless alignment between business capabilities and customer requirements. Your objective is to facilitate the adoption of additive manufacturing within targeted sectors.
Main Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide expert knowledge on additive manufacturing topics, including powder composition, laser effects, and stress relieving of metal builds.
2. Evaluate microstructural responses during mechanical testing (tensile testing).
3. Perform characterization of metal AM components using microscopy (porosity testing).
4. Design and execute experiments to produce material datasheets for each base material.
5. Document testing results and continuously develop datasheets, incorporating post-processing techniques' effects.
6. Develop and maintain process control throughout the additive manufacturing process.
7. Establish and nurture relationships with external facilities (test houses and universities).
8. Maintain adherence to health and safety standards and perform additional duties as required.
9. Ensure quality control of incoming metal powder.
10. Assist in daily inspection tasks, including visual and dimensional inspections.
