Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the theatre team as a band 7 Senior Specialist Educator. We are looking for a passionate, skilled and knowledgeable senior registered healthcare professional to join a team of educators who continuously develop, deliver and improve the education, teaching and training provided by University Hospitals Birmingham. Excellent clinical, leadership and communication skills are essential along with the ability to work in an innovative way. The successful candidate will be passionate about education, quality and safety as well as acting as an excellent role model. Candidates must be a registered nurse, an operating department practitioner or hold an equivalent healthcare professional registration and have experience in the theatre setting. Main duties of the job The post holder will manage the Specialist Educators within the Theatre Department ensuring that the clinical education and development needs of the registered and unregistered Nursing and Operating Department Practitioner workforce is identified and addressed using approved, proven and credible methods. The post holder will help influence the Trust education strategy and develop and implement an Education Strategy for the Theatre department, monitoring the quality of provision and ensuring the workforce is developed to meet the needs of service now and in the future. The post holder will take the lead on ensuring all registered and unregistered nursing staff, theatre practitioners and theatre support workers and Nursing Students receive induction, orientation and ongoing development as required. All references to clinical staff will include registered and unregistered Nursing roles, Operating Department Practitioner and Theatre Support Workers.
