About the Opportunity
Jacobs is currently recruiting for Nuclear Safety Case Engineers at all levels of experience to join our growing business. Our offices are located across the UK and we embrace flexible and hybrid working arrangements. These roles can either be full-time or part-time so please discuss your preference with us.
Take your personal and professional career development to the next level by working in a growing market with a large and diverse client base. Our Safety Case Engineers are working collaboratively across diverse markets in the civil nuclear and defence sectors on strategic national projects. Our work spans the full nuclear lifecycle, including next-generation systems and emerging reactor technologies, supporting the safe operation of existing nuclear platforms and facilities, and solving complex waste management and decommissioning challenges.
We are interested in hearing from you if you have experience in one or more of the following areas listed below, but we’re also keen to speak to you if you’re interested in transferring into this discipline. Jacobs will assist your transition through formal training and mentoring support:
1. Safety Case production and management.
2. Hazard and Risk identification and assessment studies, e.g. FMEA, HAZOP, ALARP.
3. Internal and External Hazard assessments.
4. Deterministic and Probabilistic Safety Assessments (PSA).
5. Nuclear Licensing and Authorisations.
6. Integrating safety principles into engineering designs.
Here's What You'll Need:
1. A degree (or equivalent demonstrable experience) in a STEM discipline.
2. Experience in executing project tasks against relevant standards and best practices.
3. Good communication skills and the ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Delivering technical work to support the demonstration that a facility or system can be operated safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
2. Liaising with clients to understand their challenges and develop solutions.
3. Representing the business in technical meetings with clients, regulators and other third parties.
4. Helping to maintain the technical capability/knowledge of the community and mentoring junior team members (as appropriate).
