Join Our Team as a Kitchen Porter at The Riverford Field Kitchen
We’re looking for a hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team at The Riverford Field Kitchen—our award-winning farm restaurant in the heart of Devon’s South Hams.
This isn’t just any kitchen job. Here, we cook with the seasons, from the fields around us, creating a daily-changing feast where veg takes centre stage. It’s fast-paced, hands-on, and full of energy, but always with a strong sense of purpose—serving good food, grown the right way.
More than just a veg box….Riverford are mad about organic veg. It’s at the core of everything we do. We love to grow it, pack it into boxes, and deliver it to around 70, 000 homes across the UK every week.
This takes loads of brilliant people – and working here makes you a ‘co-owner’, since Riverford is employee-owned. Success means much more than just profits; we want this to be a place people enjoy coming to work, and a business our co-owners feel proud of!
We offer a whole bucket full of benefits—33 days’ holiday (pro rata, including bank holidays), free organic fruit and veg to take home, 30% off veg boxes and our online shop, time and a half on bank holidays, free meals during service, and free parking on-site.
Salary £12.11 per hour plus, a share of tips
This is a permanent contract, working 20-25 hours per week over 3-4 days, with weekend availability essential.
The usual shift pattern is 11am to 4pm or 5:30pm to 10:30pm, but we can offer longer shifts and development opportunities for the right candidate.
Getting to us… This role is based at The Field Kitchen, Wash Barn, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU.- We’re tucked away in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by fields rather than bus stops. That means you’ll need to live locally and have your own transport to get here.
What You'll Be Doing…
Get hands-on with organic seasonal veggie prep, unleashing the magic of seasonal ingredients.
Dive into the rhythm of the kitchen, keeping it sparkling clean and organised.
Embrace the opportunity to learn from our top-notch chefs, honing your culinary skills to new heights!
The work is varied and you will be doing a number of different tasks but veg prep and keeping the kitchen clean is the key to this role
Skills & experience..
No prior experience is necessary, but enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a readiness to learn are essential for this role.
A genuine passion and interest for organic food and seasonal cooking would be great – We love to develop our kitchen porters into Riverford chefs!
