Operations Manager – Aon Underwriting Managers
We are currently looking to recruit an Operations Manager to join Aon Underwriting Managers based in Chelmsford. The Operations Manager will work closely with stakeholders across the underwriting business and beyond, to ensure our services are delivered to our agreed KPIs, and that we continuously improve our processes and services.

Aon Underwriting Managers
Aon Underwriting Managers (AUM) is the in-house MGA working on behalf of Lloyd’s and Company Market insurers to provide underwriting, claims, exposure management and reporting services, delivering sustainably profitable underwriting outcomes.
AUM’s primary distribution channels are Aon’s broking divisions worldwide, supporting Aon’s International and UK based clients AUM works with colleagues across the business globally to design and deliver market leading solutions across a broad range of commercial classes.
The business is in an exciting growth phase with a stated ambition of writing over $1bn of GWP in 2024 and with investment appetite for technology, process improvement and M&A to scale further and faster.
What the day will look like
1. Operate as the go-to person for operational queries from underwriting and claims teams
2. Work with underwriting and claims teams to review and continuously improve existing processes.
3. Support the growth of the AUM business by working with our product development teams to structure processes for new products and services.
4. Support the operations function by investigating ad hoc queries or challenges to find root cause
5. Monitor and support adoption of standard processes and procedures.
6. Collaborate across onshore teams to ensure that the services provided by our offshore partners meet agreed service levels, and flag any challenges appropriately.
7. Manage electronic stamp production through product renewal cycles.
8. Assess and raise requests for system or reporting changes from underwriting and claims teams as part of the system change triage team.
9. Support management and reporting of gross premium income limits, including flagging any limit breaches.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
10. Proven experience of Operations within Insurance.
11. Technical knowledge of Lloyd’s/London Market and non-Lloyd’s processes.
12. Self-motivated, reliable and resourceful.
13. Experience of structuring and delivery of new initiatives / projects.
14. An understanding of electronic trading via PPL.
15. Effective stakeholder relationship management.
16. Knowledge of process analysis, streamlining and improvement.
