Job Title: Governance Manager
Contract: Permanent
Working arrangements: Majority home working
Salary: £47,000 - £52,000
Key responsibilities:
* Line management of the Corporate Risk and Governance Officer. Lead the team by managing the cyclical workload, providing regular support and development as needed, agreeing clear objectives, and overseeing performance management, through regular discussion and the informal and formal appraisal processes
* Membership management including recruitment, induction, training and appraisals
* Day to day operations of meetings as needed to support or cover for the Governance Officer (agenda preparation, briefings, minutes, cascading actions, and evaluation of meetings)
* Oversee the maintenance of governance information (eg website, intranet, document management system);
* Co-ordinate the annual reviews of effectiveness for the Board’s standing committees and support the annual Board evaluation
* Manage the organisations corporate risk and Board assurance processes, including review and update of the Corporate Risk Register and production of quarterly reports to the SLT, Governance, Risk and Audit Committee and the Board, and coordination of the programme of internal audit.
* Provide expert advice and make sound decisions on good governance principles.
Personal specification:
* Degree or equivalent experience
* Experience working within a Board and committee structure, or a similar environment
* Experience of monitoring compliance with governance systems
* Experience of recruitment and induction of non-executives
* Experience of drafting and presenting reports to Boards and Committees, including responding to constructive challenge
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex information into accessible and engaging written and verbal content
