There is an exciting opportunity within Torbay Recovery Initiatives, the Drug and Alcohol Service within Torbay for a nurse to join our team to cover a period of maternity leave.
We are part of the Multi-Complex Needs Alliance called Growth In Action and are working together to support the local community in Torbay.

The role involves managing a defined caseload.
We work with a range of evidence-based recovery focused interventions to support individuals with drug and alcohol use problems. We require an individual who is committed to providing high standards of service provision and who can work in partnership with service users, families and carers and the wider recovery community in Torbay.
Main duties of the job
* Undertake initial assessment of individuals referred into the service.
* Provide a range of evidence-based interventions to individuals assessed as appropriate for treatment from the service.
* Contribute to the coordination of recovery focused interventions to individuals.
* Work closely with partner agencies including statutory and non-statutory services to ensure effective delivery and coordination of services.
* Monitoring of prescribing interventions which form a component of the individuals recovery journey.
* Undertake specific interventions to support individuals to address alcohol use problems.
* To provide a range of evidence-based treatment to individuals with physical and psychological dependency upon illicit drugs or alcohol.
* To achieve all targets identified within service level agreement.
* To proactively engage clients within treatment system and in so do minimise the harm to the client resulting from their use of illicit drugs / alcohol.
* To work in partnership with non-statutory agencies in the delivery of treatment and psychosocial support to clients.
* To work in partnership with service users to ensure that the service provided is appropriate and relevant to their needs.

Person specification
Qualifications and Training
* Professional qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy and be registered with a professional body.
* To be trained/willingness to be trained to level 3 child protection / safeguarding children/adults.
* Recognised qualification in substance misuse or a willingness to work toward same.
Knowledge and Experience
* Aware of clinical interventions used in the treatment of drug / alcohol misuse.
* Understanding of issues affecting those with a drug/alcohol problem.
* Experience of clinical work with clients experiencing drug or alcohol problems.
* Experience within a specialist drug team.
* Experience of work within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Understanding or awareness of ITEP (international treatment effectiveness programme).
* Knowledge of national strategy related to drug / alcohol misuse treatment including the Recovery Model and the role of Public Health.
