There is an exciting opportunity within the Diabetes/Endocrinology team at Royal Derby Hospital / Florence Nightingale Hospital for an enthusiastic individual to join our bookings and reception team.
The post holder will be able to handle all appointments, problems, and related queries.
This is a multi-skilled role, involving booking of new and follow up appointments, outcoming clinics, cancellation of clinics, dealing with queries from patients, relatives, consultants, nurses including dietetics admin team colleagues. The post holder will be responsible for handling GP and patient queries for all clinics to managing the e-Referral Service.
• To answer the telephone in a courteous and pleasant manner at all times. Use communication and interpersonal skills to interact with tact and diplomacy with patients, relatives, carers and clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels.
• To ensure that the telephone is answered within the agreed time along with the standard Trust greeting.
• To ensure that emails are checked at the beginning and during the working day and that all queries are actioned immediately
• To deal effectively with GP/consultant queries regarding patient appointment and details for all clinics/admissions.
• To ensure that patient cancellations are updated on the hospital system and the reason recorded immediately.
• To maintain a direct booking system by agreeing dates either with patients, GPs or the secretaries at the time of their phone call or in line with the outcome of the booking protocol
• To ensure agreed appointment/admission is confirmed in writing together with appropriate information.
• To ensure that standards are met for patients receiving the notification or acknowledgement of their appointment.
• Minute taking for DSD meetings and also MDT Cover where applicable.
• Reception sickness / annual leave cover
