Exciting projects: you will get involved with a mix of complex, technical issues, and large-scale life cycle projects. There are opportunities for experiences in data centre networking, next generation firewalls, cloud-based security solutions and SD-WAN. Job description Your key duties Install, document, maintain and troubleshoot networking equipment. Assist in the supervision of network engineering works, at Exeter HQ and remotely. Respond to and resolve incidents, investigating and diagnosing complex network problems, working with users and suppliers as appropriate. Implement changes as required by the business to meet the demands of systems delivery, including content switch and firewall configuration. The maintenance of local and wide area networks for communication of data, voice, text or images within one or more computer systems. Work closely with experts and lead network specialists within the Met Office. Person specification Essential Criteria, skills and experience: A real enthusiasm for working in IT, ideally with experience of networking technologies (Expert by nature). Effective planning, communication with users and colleagues (Better together). Fast learner with an aptitude for quickly understanding and solving problems and knowing when to seek help. As our Networks Associate Infrastructure Engineer, your total reward package will be up to £36,500 annually, which includes: £26,954 base pay An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27% Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) you will be paid £2,200 per annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills.
