Social Worker - Wolverhampton Youth Justice Service (YJS) Salary - £42,708 - £47,754 (Grade 7) Hours - 37 hours per week Contract type - full time, permanent post Wolverhampton YJS has a proven track record of delivering excellent services to children and their families who are at risk or involved in the Criminal Justice System. To this end, Wolverhampton YJS continues to embed Child First and Trauma informed practice based on the principles of “Positive Youth Justice” and the Attachment, Regulation and Competency framework (ARC). In addition to this, YJS has been leading on developing a Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB) pathway within children services, building upon best practice of HSB work within YJS. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate a high level of expertise in assessment, planning, implementation/delivery and reviewing in relation to desistence, safety and wellbeing for the child and safety for others. This will involve a variety of tasks ranging from out of court and statutory assessments, the preparation of court and referral order reports, representing YJS in court, delivering face-to-face sessions and the development and facilitation of group-based programmes. Alongside this, this position will also be taking a lead on HSB practice within the service and will be supporting the YJS team manager in the development of the new HSB pathway. Therefore, we are looking for a qualified Social Worker with the ability to effectively engage children and their families and who has the energy and passion to make a genuine difference. The YJS is a multi-disciplinary team, and you must have the ability and aptitude to work collaboratively with a range of partners. You need to be passionate and willing to go that “extra mile” for excellence. The post holder will: Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England Have excellent written, record keeping, report writing and communication skills Have excellent analytical assessment, planning and reviewing skills. Have extensive experience of working with children who have experienced trauma and cumulative which has placed them vulnerable to entering the criminal justice service and/or at high risk of harm, such as exploitation Have the confidence and experience of working and managing safety and concerns within the community Demonstrate the experience and capacity of forming and sustaining positive relationships with children and their families Demonstrate the skills and ability in developing and delivering intervention a range of interventions from a trauma informed perspective Show the ability and experience of working within partnership networks, such as education environments/secure establishments to build professional relationships and advocate on behalf of young people Be able to recognise the uniqueness of each child and ensure that their practices evidence their ability to promote inclusion and reduce any disproportionality Show the ability and experience to work on own initiative and take lead responsibility were agreed for specific areas of practice and project developments, evaluating, and reviewing impact Demonstrate the skills and personality with a proven track record of being a motivating and highly effective member of a multi-disciplinary team, achieving best outcomes These posts are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
